Divisions and Special Teams

Four divisions and five specialized teams were created to better serve citizens of the Chickasaw Nation and provide needed support to surrounding law enforcement communities. Divisions include patrol, criminal investigations, administrative services, and support services.  Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), dive team, honor guard, peer support, and K9 make up the special teams.

Patrol Division

The patrol division is the largest and most visible division of the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department. It consists of three patrol precincts, WinStar, Ada, and Newcastle, serving citizens throughout the Chickasaw Nation. The officers respond to calls for service, enforce criminal law violations, perform preventative patrol, and conduct community policing initiatives. The patrol division consists of three captains, three lieutenants, 12 sergeants, and 61 uniformed officers.

Criminal Investigations

The criminal investigations division consists of one captain, one lieutenant, two sergeants, 15 criminal investigators, and two crime analysts assigned to investigate various criminal investigations.  These employees have specialized training in criminal investigations, conduct investigations on reports completed by the patrol division, and subsequently present cases to tribal, state, and federal prosecuting offices.

Administrative Services

The administrative services division is a support division for the department.  This division comprises communications, fleet, property, training, victim services, evidence, and community services.  The division is led by a captain supporting two lieutenants, four sergeants, 12 dispatchers, three training officers, three evidence technicians, one fleet coordinator, one property coordinator, one radio technician, two community service officers, four victim services coordinators, one records management system administrator, and two records clerks.

Support Services
The support services division consists of one captain, one lieutenant, four sergeants, and 26 uniformed officers assigned to the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, Chickasaw Nation District Courts, and additional tribal campuses.  This division is responsible for the safety and security of facilities, responding to calls for service, enforcing criminal law violations, and serving as the liaison between the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department and the Chickasaw Nation Detention Administration.
SWAT

The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) comprises 25 highly trained and experienced members.  Following the training standards established by the National Tactical Officers Association, the team is equipped with specialized equipment to respond to critical incidents, including hostage rescues, high-risk arrest and search warrants service, barricaded suspects, and dignitary protection.

Dive Team

The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department Dive Team comprises eight highly trained and experienced members. It is equipped with specialized equipment to respond to critical incidents, including victim and evidence recovery and water rescues.

K9

The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department K9 team comprises four K-9s assigned to four uniformed officers. The four teams are trained to locate narcotics and complete tasks that assist in patrol techniques. 

Honor Guard
The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department Honor Guard was reestablished in 2023.  Consisting of eight members, the specially trained team renders honor, preserves traditions, and instills pride during formal ceremonies such as color guard, parades, casket watches, funerals, retirements, and civic events.  The Honor Guard represents the ultimate pride in law enforcement, and its goal is to present a positive and professional image to the public.
Peer Support
The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department Peer Support team was established in 2021.  Consisting of sworn and civilian members, the specially trained team provides support during and following critical events and appropriately assists licensed mental health professionals.  Team members are trained in post-critical incident response and crisis intervention.
